Principal Consultant

  • Possesses an Engineering Doctorate (Eng.Doc) and a Master of Science in Process Plant Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), with a specialization in capacity-based safety within process industries.
  • Has brings over 30 years of HSSE leadership in oil & gas, petrochemical, semiconductor, and technology industries. He has held senior positions at Ping Petroleum, Vestigo Petroleum, Hess, Talisman, Shell, BP Chemicals, MIMOS, and MySem, where he developed HSE systems, led offshore safety initiatives, and managed risk governance according to international and Malaysian standards.
  • Serve as Professional Member in American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) since 2000, a member of the Safety Engineering Special Interest (SESIG) of Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and is registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He has served as a Safety and Health Officer (SHO), Chemical Health Risk Assessor (CHRA), and CIMAH competent person. As an accredited HRDC trainer, NIOSG Trainer and advanced train-the-trainer practitioner, he delivers programs in Process Safety, Human Performance, incident investigation, risk assessment, and safety leadership for industry organisations.
  • Served as Chairman of the PIMMAG Advisory Committee (PAC) from 2019-2024, adjunct and industrial lecturer for Malaysian universities (UTM, UTP, USM, UTHM, UMPSA), and advisor on safety governance and risk management. He also supports community, educational, and professional development initiatives, mentoring engineers, supervisors, and safety professionals to foster safety leadership and organisational learning.
  • He is recognised for advancing capacity-driven safety and human performance in high-risk industries. He has established multiple HSE functions within organisations, including “Living Safety” at Vestigo and “DARE to be SAFER PING,” and is currently advocating for the “Safety Capacity Index.” This initiative integrates Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) principles and resilience engineering into safety operations. His research and leadership—including his acclaimed paper, “Safety is the Presence of Capacity – A Paradigm Shift” (LPA 2025)—continue to influence local conversations about proactive safety cultures, organisational resilience, and learning-focused safety systems.
