On the morning of 1 March 2026, the PXP Training Centre at Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya hosted a unique and engaging knowledge-sharing session titled “Project Delivery Face-Off: The 10 Critical Success Factors.”
Despite being held during the Ramadan fasting month and on what many would normally consider a relaxed Sunday, a group of dedicated project management practitioners gathered for an intimate five-hour session that proved both insightful and energising.
The session featured two seasoned project leaders, Ts. Alex Zulkarnain Zulkarim and En. Pandai Othman, who brought decades of real-world project experience to the room. The format was intentionally different from a typical training programme. Instead of a lecture-style delivery, the two presenters “faced off” intellectually, presenting and defending their respective Top 10 Critical Success Factors for project delivery.
Each success factor was debated, dissected, and explored from multiple perspectives. Participants were able to witness firsthand how experienced practitioners approach project challenges, interpret success factors, and prioritise what truly matters in complex project environments.
The discussion ranged across essential themes such as project mission clarity, risk management excellence, stakeholder alignment, contracting strategies, team capability, and the importance of front-end project maturity. The lively exchange between the two presenters sparked thoughtful dialogue and encouraged participants to contribute their own insights and experiences.
Because of the small and focused group setting, the session quickly evolved into a highly interactive conversation rather than a conventional classroom training. Participants had the opportunity to ask candid questions, challenge viewpoints, and share lessons learned from their own projects.
Holding the session during Ramadhan also created a special atmosphere of reflection, discipline, and purposeful learning, demonstrating the strong commitment of the participants to professional development—… even on a quiet Sunday morning.
By the end of the five-hour session, attendees left with fresh perspectives on what truly drives project success, as well as a deeper appreciation for the different ways experienced leaders analyse and solve project delivery challenges.
The event was another step in PXP’s ongoing effort to foster practical, experience-driven learning within the project management community, providing platforms where professionals can exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and sharpen their delivery capabilities.
Sometimes the best learning happens not in a large conference hall… but around a table with a handful of serious practitioners, two experienced voices, and a room full of honest discussion.
